Donald has been a solicitor since 1984 and set up his own law firm, Wright & Co, in 1988 based in Leith. The business was sold in 2017 and became Watermans Legal, where Donald was a solicitor consultant. In 2021 Donald set up Notary Scot, a law firm based in Edinburgh and St Andrews.
